This is a proud moment for Karunagappally (kollam) Police

Kollam: The Karunagappally Police can be proud that they have been able to get punishment for three murders in this one month. Earlier this month, Kollam Fourth Sessions Court Judge S Subhash sentenced Pakkaran Unni alias Pradeep, who stabbed head of household to death in broad daylight, to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 2 lakh. The murder was committed on the grounds that the deceased Thulasidharan had spread slander about Pradeep.
Kollam First Additional Sessions Judge Sri Vinod P N sentenced Vasu’s son Raveendran, 65, of Thodiyur Puliyur Vanchi South Mundappally to rigorous imprisonment for life and a fine in the case of stabbing his second wife Shyamala, also known as Poonkodi. They had a fight over the rehearsal of a folk song at the house of the deceased Poonkodi and tried to kill Poonkodi’s daughter Gopika when she tried to kill her, Poonkodi was stabbed to death.
Thirdly, Kollam District Sessions Court Judge Mrs. Bindu Sudhakaran sentenced 72-year-old Krishnankutty Nair, who was murdered by his son Asha Krishnan, in the Krishna Bhavan house outside Kulasekarapuram Fort, to life imprisonment and a fine. The father killed Krishnankutty Nair for opposing his request to apologize and bring his wife back to him because of the fact that the accused’s wife had become estranged.
The fact that the accused in all these three cases were tried and convicted without even getting bail is due to the investigative excellence of the Karunagappally Police. They are an asset to the Kerala Police, who conduct scientific investigations through circumstantial evidence. The biggest drug bust in the district, 730 grams of MDMA, was also seized in Karunagappally. As many as six accused in Karunagappally are out of the district under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention(KAAPA) Act
Under the supervision of former Karunagappally ACP Pradeep Kumar and current ACP Anjali Bhavana IPS, these cases were handled by a team comprising SIs Shameer, Venugopal Santosh, Shajimon, Rahim, ASI Seema, SCPOs Hashim, Rajeev Kumar Basheer, Naufal Jan and Anitha, led by Karunagappally Police Station SHO Biju.V
